The John Rylands Research Institute and Library promotes research in the humanities and sciences using its wealth of special collections. These world-leading collections present endless research opportunities across multiple disciplines, and include five thousand years’ worth of materials across several hundred languages, ensuring the Rylands remains the National Research Library in the North.

By opening these special collections to innovative and multidisciplinary research and by engaging all audiences with that research, the Rylands can better define the human experience and contribute to key academic and wider objectives. In order to do so, it works with researchers at every stage of their project, from application to investigation to impact and dissemination.
