Creative Manchester is perfectly placed for this research, with Manchester being the scene for an unprecedented UK intervention which has focused on the arts and digital aspects of the creative industries. In 2018/19 alone, £2.4 billion was generated in turnover from graduate start-ups and university spin-out activity that directly benefitted local communities, highlighting the reward for investment in these industries and the positive outcomes of research.
