Student and Graduate opportunities
Experience is essential at the beginning of an exciting career in the cultural sector. At Creative Manchester we welcome students and graduates at the beginnings of their career to grow their skills and experience with us.
Student Placements
At Creative Manchester we welcome students from the University of Manchester’s Institute for Cultural Practices to join us on a credited work placement as part of their Master's course.
Each Student Placement is developed based on a specific project and allows a student to get hands on experience in skills like communications, event management, project management and marketing.
This placement has helped me develop both my confidence and my commitment to working collaboratively with communities to address challenges around health, equality, and access to the creative industries. I have gained valuable insight into how meaningful partnerships can bridge the gap between academic research and real-world impact. The work undertaken by Creative Manchester is vital in fostering these connections, and it has provided me with approaches and perspectives that I will carry forward in my future work.

Beyond practical digital communication skills, such as design and copywriting, this placement helped to grow as a communicator and team member. I became more confident to deliver a speech in team meetings, and coordinate audiences in events. I also improved my written English and became more familiar with the tone and branding of public-facing communication. More broadly, this placement allows me to realize how creative practices can bridge the gap between social issues and the public.

Social media marketing is at the forefront of all event and communications teams, including Creative Manchester’s. Through my placement and then internship here, I’ve had the opportunity to action campaigns and comms plans on multiple social channels.
