Music on Campus 2019
In line with Creative Manchester’s commitment to staff and student wellbeing, we curated two days of live music as a means of relaxation on campus.
From 27 March 2019 to 28 March 2019
Partners: The Martin Harris Centre, Manchester University Music Society (MUMS)
One of Creative Manchester’s core objectives is to promote staff and student wellbeing. With the idea that listening to music has a relaxing effect on our minds and bodies, we teamed up with the Martin Harris Centre, music students and the Manchester University Music Society (MUMS) to deliver two live music events on campus.
Taking place over two consecutive lunchtimes in Spring 2019, the inaugural Music on Campus featured pop up performances on Bridgeford Street and in Alan Gilbert Square. Our talented students had the opportunity to showcase their skills within six individual performances of jazz, pop, klezmer and Renaissance music.
Staff and students were encouraged to stop by for 10 minutes – or the full 2 hours – and enjoy a short break from their hectic days. We collected feedback from a sample of each audience, and found this to be overwhelmingly positive. 30 people reported that Music on Campus made them feel happier, 29 reported that it made them feel calmer, and five said that it left them energised.
